TBR – OWLs Readathon

Hello everyone and welcome to my TBR for the OWLs Readathon. This readathon is taking place throughout the month of April, and I’ll leave all of the information down in the description. For this readathon I chose the Curse Breaker profession. There are six OWLs that I’ll need to pass for the Curse Breaker profession. The first is Ancient Runes, which is to read a retelling. I’ll be reading Briar Rose by Jane Yolen, which is a Sleeping Beauty retelling. Next is Arithmancy, to read a work written by more than one author, and I’ll be reading Because You Love to Hate Me, which is an anthology of short stories from the villains’ perspectives. Next is Charms, which is to read an adult work, and I’ll be reading The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, which is a fantasy. Next is Defense Against the Dark Arts, which is to read a title that starts with an “R.” I’ll be reading Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix, which is a young adult novel about a girl who discovers that her world is not what it seems. Next is Potions, which is to read a sequel. I’ll be reading Monstress volume 3, which is a gorgeous fantasy/steampunk series. And lastly for the Curse Breaker OWLs I’ll be reading for Transfiguration, which is to read a book with sprayed edges or a red cover. I’ll be reading Good Bones and Simple Murders by Margaret Atwood, which is a collection of short stories. I’ll be focusing on these six books throughout the month of April, but because I’m an overachiever, I do have books picked out to go for my other OWLs just in case and to have backup options. For Astronomy, which is to read a book with “star” in the title, I’ll be reading the sci-fi book All the Windwracked Stars. For Care of Magical Creatures, which is to read a book with a land animal on the cover, I’ll be reading The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams. I read Watership Down years ago–I need to reread it–but I’ve never read this book by the same author. For Divination, to read a book set in the future, I’ll be reading Damia by Anne McCaffrey, which is part of my reread of The Tower and the Hive series that I started a few months ago. For Herbology, which is to read a book with a plant on the cover, I’ll be reading The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer, My Life at Rose Red. I really like the Stephen King TV mini-series of Rose Red, so I’m interested to see how that universe is expanded in this book. For History of Magic, which is to read a book published at least 10 years ago, I’ll be reading volume 2 of Dawn by Joseph Michael Linsner. I wasn’t too thrilled with the first volume in this series, but the artwork was really good and I’m interested to see if it improves at all. And finally for Muggle Studies, which is to read a contemporary, I’ll be reading Intrusions by Ursula Hegi. This is a book about a writer and her main character starting to intrude on each other’s lives. And that’s everything that I plan to read for the OWLs Readathon! Let me know down in the comments if you’re participating, what profession you’ve chosen, and what books you’re planning to read. Thanks for joining me!
